Book number 3: Sonja 's pages

It was Sonja's turn to fill the first pages of the Charlie and the chocolate factory children book, I knew they would be beautiful and I wasnt disappointed! What a clever artist Sonja is. She made her drawings fit around the Quentin Blake illustrations and the result is funny, sweet and adorable. Judge for yourself:

A little bit of poetry all the way from Bosnia! thank you so much for participating Sonja, if you ever make large prints of your drawings for sale I will be very interested in buying one! Sonja also makes very cool jewellery, yep, multi talented is the word...
The night and day book is still stuck in France with Sonia who is having a rough time at the moment and is still perfecting her pages as she wasnt totally happy with them. Hurry up a bit!
My turn to paint a cover for book 3 and fill a few pages before sending it to the next person. The fairytale sketchbook is in America with Laura Ferrara, this is going to be amazing as well, cant wait. xxx

How to participate to sketchbook 3

I am happy to report that I have sent sketchbook number 3 to Sonja in Bosnia and that sketchbook number 2 is back! Only one stuck in France now,but i shall call the naughty girl who is keeping it to gently tell her off tonite!
Sketchbook number 3 is a printed book,a well known children's story: Charlie and the chocolate factory by Roald Dhal  and it already contains a few illustrations by the great Quentin Blakes. I thought it would be interesting to draw on the printed pages , either by illustrating the actual story or by totally ignoring it and let your imagination take you wherever it goes.
-Draw on one or 2, 3 pages, up to you and your inspiration
-follow the story. or dont!
-draw on the Quentin Blake illustrations or around them if you have thought of an interesting way of doing that.
-have fun
- Leave pages between your illustrations and the next artist's illustrations: we do not need to draw on ALL the printed pages of the book, obviously. Let the book 'breathe'.

Sketchbook number 3 then ...

The 2 sketchbooks are still stuck in their respective parts of the world (not lost thank god), which is so frustrating for all al us who cant wait to see new pages added to our precious books. I have sent countless kind messages and checked my letterbox every morning...for 2 months. So lets start a third sketchbook project, this time a vintage children's book. Pure line drawings over the typed words are what i would love to achieve, a bit like soletz 's work. Sonja will be the first one to receive it in Eastern europe. So guys this time, 2 or 3 weeks maximum please!

Becky's beautiful pages

My talented friend Becky's beautiful pages for the Forest Fairytale sketchbook! Becky is an Art teacher and knows a lot about textures and experimenting with trapping found objects and textures in plastic and handmade paper.

Love the collaged butterfly stamps and stitching.

We share a love of buttons. Love the idea of inserting a bit of poetry on ripped paper.

How cool are those printed rectangles?

Trapped butterfly in handmade texture.

Gorgeous.

Pink and green are Becky's colors.
Can you tell?
Circular pencil rubbings below with 'woven' texture in the circle on the right.

Fantastic! The sketchbook is now with Raphaelle from the artycho blog near Chester, Uk  and I cant wait to see her pages, she is the kind of girl who can do anything: sewing, crochet, drawing, blogging you name it, she's excellent at it. The night and day sketchbook is in France with my dear friend Sonia who I believe will be using collage too and is very secretive about her ideas for it! Can't wait again!

Lets go travelling again!

The sketchbooks are ready to go travelling again after 2 months of hibernation. So Raphaelle in Chester, Becky in  Preston, Sonia in France, Ana in Spain hopefully, Sylvie in Australia, Laura in America and more will be receiving one of the precious sketchbooks soon. Cant wait to see more stories unfolding... so happy to feel half human again after a hard winter of bad sleep, and various ilnesses, including anemia for me and a never ending flu for the whole family, and lets not forget days turning into night at 4.30pm... normal if you live in Northern England but so tough.
So I am more than ready for some magic and light on the pages and new friendships and connections with far away artist friends. Love! x Lo
